Tight Situation

"If it's not tight, it's not right" is what I heard my male friend say when we were discussing trends here at school.
As I was with a group of my friends here at CCNY, we talked about the issues with the styles and trends here at CCNY. We have chatted about everything, from urban gear to UGG boots, and realized that when midterms come around, students deck out in their CCNY gear, mainly the trademark CCNY sweater hoodies. In addition, we discussed the mind boggling season reversal trend at CCNY: we wear summer clothes in the winter and vice versa. I'll admit it - that's just what we do - we experiment and have fun with fashion.
Since I enrolled here in Fall 2008, I have always admired the unique styles of our fellow classmates. Then I noticed that ever since Rock and Hip-Hop music merged in late 2006 with the summer anthem "Party like a Rock Star," and the sport and style of skateboarding gained popularity, more people started dressing as if they were rock stars. That's when the epidemic of skinny jeans for both sexes emerged.
Skinny jeans look good on just about everyone and are relatively affordable. While we're on the topic of skinny jeans, I may as well merge over to the topic of super skinny jeans that are so tight that you literally have to perform a dance to fit into them (the wiggle). At CCNY, I see how versatile skinny and super skinny jeans are; they are versatile with flats, hoodies, and tennis shoes. But one thing that I take note of is when a guy's jeans are actually tighter than mine!
I wonder if this trend might be followed by our males, as I thought that this school should have diverse fashion. I feel that we're in a tight situation not only because of the tight jeans epidemic, but because of the loss of uniqueness in which I fell in love with.
